What is substance abuse attitude testing?

In psychology, the term attitude is a very important factor when ascertaining certain aspects in social psychology, and this leads us to substance abuse attitude testing.  Attitudes are considered to be a subjects response to certain attitude subjects.  These attitudes can be either positive or negative.  Substance abuse attitude testing is, as the name suggests, the testing of attitudes toward substances and the taking or consumption of those substances.

Implicit attitudes are attitudes which we are not consciously aware of but are discovered through the use of experiments based on a subject's response time to certain stimuli.

The use of substance abuse attitude testing means that doctors can test the subliminal response from substance abusers and ascertain both the extent of the addiction and whether it has improved.

In order to change a sufferer's habits substance abuse attitude testing is used to determine how much influence certain factors can have on their addiction.  It is used to calculate how much effect certain types of treatment has on a subject and whether there is any benefit at all to using any of the techniques.

Substance abuse attitude testing is also used by companies when testing employees.  This is because most substance users would want to hide any addiction they may have when interviewed by their employers.  The theory is that by measuring the implicit attitudes, employers can determine for definite whether an employee uses drugs and whether they have an addiction.

It's quite well documented that there is no medical substance abuse treatment and that the only real way to overcome repeated substance abuse is through a drug treatment program.  There are thousands of facilities across the country which offer extensive courses of substance abuse treatment.
Not only do these facilities offer help for drug addicts, they can also offer support and advice to families, friends and loved ones of the addicts.  Support from the people close to sufferers is very helpful when it comes to the long road to recovery.
Substance abuse treatment needs to be carried out by trained professionals in order for it to be as successful as possible but only during the beginning period of the treatment.  Once the initial period is over, the sufferer must go back to their own lives in their own homes and it is during these times that having people close to you who have been versed in what to do is essential.  Without the support of family and friends most addicts quickly return to using the substances again.
